Painfully Cute!

My friend Chelsie and I get together quite a bit to be crafty and our latest adventure ended up being painfully cute...literally. So we needed 12"-18" metal stars...and we needed them cheap because we wanted 5 each. So we went on a hunt and found that we could get them for $22-$45...so it would end up costing us at least $110! Ya right!! We finally found some at Tai Pan for $5 each but they were not exactly what we wanted. These had two stars welded together to make a 3-D star...no big deal though right? We figured we could just break the welds and take them apart.

So it was easy for the most part but some of the welds were so tough!! On Friday afternoon I was trying to take a star apart and got to a tough part. I was using a screwdriver to pry it apart and the screwdriver (flathead) slipped and I stabbed it into my hand! OUCH...the pain was so bad that I didn't know HOW to react. Christian asked me how he could help and I just told him to take Ava and go away. As soon as he left I just screamed...I guess I thought if I screamed I wouldn't be able to feel the pain. Anyway, as soon as I could partly function we headed to the instacare because I knew I at least needed a tetanus shot. Luckily the screwdriver pushed my tendons aside and just left me with a hole in my hand!! It entered on my palm between my thumb and pointer finger and went in sideways to the middle of my hand. I don't have pain where it entered at all but I sure as heck can tell where it got to inside my hand...OUCH!!

This is the much hated screwdriver and the picture on the right shows how it went into my hand and how far! Ew just thinking about it gives me the heebie jeebies!!

So after all that drama Christian used a torch to take the stars apart for me. I still have to add a little more ribbon to them but other than that I think they turned out really CUTE! The next thing Chelsie and I are doing are wooden pilgrims and I am definitely going to steer clear of the screwdriver!

Nichole I now know to stay clear of you and screwdrivers. That would hurt so bad I don't even want to think about. Good thing your stars turned out cute or that wouldn't be worth it!

Those stars are very cute!!! Oh man, that sounded like it hurts so bad! Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you...I am seeing Dr. Scott Hansen at the Valley View Womens Center. I really like him and was pretty impressed with the office. Hope that helps. Hope to see you at the kidlets book class on Tuesday.

That star is really cute! It is too bad that you got hurt. I can't believe how far it went into your hand. It is good that it didn't do any damage. How did you get the idea for the star? You are so creative!!

They are cute and so is your hand. As long as the injury was worth the end product. Looks to me like it was.....

I got the idea for the star from Heartland Paper.

It's amazing how one little thing can create so much headache and pain! I'm sorry you got hurt - it effects everything you do and constantly reminds you that you wish it never would have happened! (That's all Shae could say after she fell off her bike and got road-rash from her knee down to her foot.)
Adorable stars and I am also very interested in how you did it!

Dude... freakin ouch. I'm really sorry about the hand. That reminds me of my dad one Christmas. He got a weather vein and was putting it together and stabbed himself with a screwdriver (not a flathead, the other kind.) Only it didn't go in sideways, it went almost all the way through his hand. That was the only time I've ever heard my dad drop the f-bomb. Woo-wee! He said it was more painful than cutting his finger off in woodshop as a teenager... Ouch. Hope it heals quick.

I love the stars! I totally wish I was super crafty like that! But the screw driver to the hand is one of the many reasons that I'm not crafty, I hope you feel better!

Those stars are DANG cute! Call me next time you do something crafty. I'd say your pain was worth while though! ;)

Those were totally worth the pain! Right?

Ugh...when the pain is gone then I'm sure it will have been worth it!!

Ok, I am trying not to barf everywhere from the thought of a screwdriver piercing through your skin. Gross. You poor thing. And you totally win the creative/cuteness award. Those are going to be a hit! I love them.

ok I hope you do not mind, I want to copy your idea. My only question is what did you use to stick the paper on? Modge podge? I also love in South Jordan. Thanks for your help email me forsythechelsea@yahoo.com

Ok, so stabbing yourself with a screwdriver has gotta suck... BUT I wanted to comment back about your comment on the Mystery Date.. I TOTALLY loved the fetuses and embreyos (sp?) but I wrote it and all the sudden got scared that people were going to take what I meant wrong, so I'm glad you understand me. I totally stared at each one and tried to take it all in. I was Fascinated and that was my most favorite part.. some people just don't understand my fascinations.. I hope your hand heals fast. *kisses* for the booboo
